Physician - Hematology/Oncology

Job Title

This board-certified Hematologist/Oncologist will be treating patients with general hematologic and neoplastic diseases.

Duties

Work activities may involve:

  • Preparing and interpreting blood and bone marrow samples
  • Analyzing blood samples using computer-aided and manual techniques
  • Reviewing initial data that may reveal abnormalities in white or red blood cells, platelets or clotting factors
  • Deciding on additional hematologic testing
  • Prescribing treatment for individual patients
  • Assisting colleagues in the interpretation of hematologic test results
  • Selecting appropriate techniques for different types of hematological analysis
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team that may include bone marrow transplantation specialists, hematologic subspecialists, or hematopathologists
  • Teaching or training medical students, residents and other hospital staff
  • Providing education and counseling to patients
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Work Schedule: 8:00a to 4:30pm (20 hours), Monday through Friday; however, weekend and evening hours may occur when Veteran needs arise.
