Radiation Therapist - PROTON Clinic

Overview Be a part of our growing Radiation Therapy team as we expand our Proton clinic. The position is a full‑time mid‑to‑evening shift (12:00 pm–8:30 pm) with great evening incentive pay. This shift allows flexibility to enjoy the beautiful Salt Lake City setting and the surrounding Wasatch Mountains before or after work. Daily Bonus for Proton Evening Shift Work In addition to hourly pay: extra flat pay of $75 if working beyond 7 pm and an additional flat pay of $100 if working past 8 pm. Shift Differential In addition to hourly pay: $3.50 per hour if at least four hours are worked after 3 pm. An employee must be clocked in at least six hours consecutively and have worked at least four hours in the differential time zone (3 pm–11:59 pm) to qualify. Only actual worked hours in the specific time zone will be eligible. $4,000 Sign‑On Bonus Offered! The program provides a signing bonus for newly hired external candidates at a 0.50 FTE or greater. The successful candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a passion for delivering high‑quality, state‑of‑the‑art treatments while being supported by a team of 14 faculty radiation oncologists, 15 nurses, 11 dosimetrists, 14 medical physicists, and over 30 radiation therapists. One year or more of radiation therapy experience preferred. Competitive Salary Entry rate for this position is $48.63 per hour. Teaching institution—affiliated with Weber State University and training future generations. Responsibilities Perform radiation therapy treatments. Explain treatment procedures to patients. Prepare the treatment room and equipment, transfer patients to treatment area, and position patients for treatment. Check daily treatment parameters; deliver the prescribed dosage; maintain treatment records in the patient’s electronic medical chart. Perform weekly checks of the patient’s electronic chart for completeness and accuracy. Photograph patients in the treatment position and observe patients for unusual skin reactions and side effects of treatment. Perform tumor localization using image‑guidance modalities. Maintain supplies and custom treatment devices in the treatment room. Schedule patients for treatment on treatment machines. Perform daily quality and safety checks of the linear accelerator and other treatment equipment. Teach clinical intern students. Perform service recovery as needed. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. Ability to perform verification checks and apply quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of dose calculations. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care on his or her assigned unit. Ability to follow department policies, procedures, and checklists to ensure safe, accurate treatments. Ability to bill correctly for procedures performed. Ability to review and understand a treatment plan to accurately treat patients. Qualifications Licenses Required Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (obtained within 30 days of hire). Current licensure to practice as a radiologic technologist in the State of Utah. Credentialed in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiology (ARRT). * Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
