Job Opportunity: Gastroenterologist

We are excited to announce a partnership between our organization and a prominent academic institution to create a comprehensive Gastrointestinal (GI) service line at our medical center in Bel Air, MD, set to launch in July 2025.

Salary: The annual compensation for this position ranges from $456,524.00 to $724,219.00 .

The new GI service line will provide both inpatient and outpatient GI services, utilizing our recently opened Ambulatory Surgical Center and clinical space. Our current team consists of two gastroenterologists and two nurse practitioners, and we are looking to expand by adding 3-4 more gastroenterologists to our rapidly growing practice in Harford County, Maryland.

We offer three flexible pathways to ensure a balanced work-life experience:

• GI Hospitalist: Focus on inpatient consultations and endoscopy with a schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off, including 24-hour call for 24 weeks per year. Outpatient endoscopy can be included if desired.
• Hybrid GI Hospitalist: Primarily inpatient coverage with some outpatient responsibilities, following a similar schedule to the GI hospitalist, plus an additional day for ambulatory endoscopy in the ASC.
• Outpatient/Ambulatory Model: 3-4 days dedicated to outpatient endoscopy in both the hospital and ASC, along with 1-2 days in clinic and occasional inpatient call coverage.

For candidates with specific interests, we provide resources to develop subspecialty service lines.

This position comes with a strong academic connection to the University of Maryland Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, including:

Inpatient coverage includes:

• Support for a 250-bed hospital with Level 1 trauma capabilities
• A dedicated endoscopy suite with 24/7 on-call nursing and technical staff
• 24/7 anesthesia services for propofol administration
• Access to advanced equipment, including Olympus scopes with Hemospray and over-the-scope clips
• General surgery, colorectal surgery, and interventional radiology services available around the clock
• An average inpatient list of 15-20 patients per day, with 5-7 endoscopies performed daily

While advanced endoscopy skills are not mandatory, the necessary equipment will be provided.

• Doctoral degree in Medicine in the relevant specialty
• 3-5 years of clinical experience preferred
• Board certification or eligibility in gastroenterology is preferred
• New GI fellowship graduates and seasoned GI physicians are encouraged to apply
• Advanced endoscopy skills such as ERCP and EUS are preferred
• Current CPR, BLS, and ACLS certifications as required by the department
• Proficiency in general GI procedures, including upper endoscopy with biopsies, bleeding control, esophageal dilations, foreign body retrieval, colonoscopy with polypectomy, and PEG tube placement
• Commitment to quality metrics and a solid clinical knowledge base for managing GI and Hepatology disorders

The stated salary range reflects the low and high ends of our organization’s compensation for this role. Actual salary will depend on various factors, including geographic location, skills, experience, market conditions, and educational background. This position is eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis.
