Certified Athletic Trainer

Jersey CUSD No. 100 is in search of a dedicated and motivated Athletic Trainer who will be invested in the success of our athletes and District. The Athletic Trainer should possess a strong understanding of sports-related injuries and treatments. The Athletic Trainer will work with medical professionals and coaches to evaluate athletes’ condition, establish plans for diet, fitness, and treatments, and track progress towards health and fitness goals. The Athletic Trainer should have a strong understanding of the challenges athletes face, proper nutrition, sports injuries, and treatment options; understand first-aid treatments, massage, and physical therapy techniques and equipment; be detail-oriented, observant, and possess excellent interpersonal, problem solving, decision making, and communication skills. The Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Athletic Director, Building Principal, and the Director of Special Education. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for ensuring athletes accomplish their health and fitness goals and receive the proper training and treatment while demonstrating a caring attitude, knowledge of the role of the Athletic Trainer, and a passion about the success of the athletes. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: Work with coaches, athletes, and medical professionals to evaluate player condition. Create exercise and nutrition plans. Speak to coaches, family members, and athletes to set health and fitness goals. Design training and rehabilitation programs for athletes. Use knowledge of sports-related injuries to diagnose and treat athletes. Refer athletes to another doctor or other medical staff members. Assist and monitor injured players as they heal and progress towards recovery. Maintain records related to athlete condition and training, diet, and treatment plans. Handle clerical tasks, such as maintaining inventory, assisting with budgets, or restocking supplies. Providing leadership and instruction in the program, school, and community. Model sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards athletes, coaches, and parents. Encourage potential student athletes to participate in the athletic program. Take all necessary precautions to protect the safety and well-being of the student athletes. Ensure the staff and players are in compliance with the Jersey CUSD #100 Board Policies, JCHS Co-Curricular Code of Conduct, Cahokia Conference (JCHS) policies, and IHSA (JCHS), Metro East Athletic Conference (MEAC) policies and IESA (JCMS) policies and regulations. Establish and maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, administrators, and teachers. Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program and ensure these items are clean, in good operating condition, and stored appropriately. Represent Jersey CUSD #100 in a professional manner in and around the facilities. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Other duties assigned by the Special Education Director, Principal, or Athletic Director, limited to those consistent with being the Athletic Trainer. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a valid state license or certification. #J-18808-Ljbffr
