Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift LPN for a step-down unit, requiring step-down/PCU experience, vent experience, and ACLS/BLS certification.

Details

• Step-down unit caring for patients with COPD, CHF, pneumonia, flu, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-COVID conditions
• Unit supports trach, vent, BiPAP, and high-oxygen requirement patients with Respiratory Therapist collaboration
• Patient population includes insulin drips, heparin, Cardizem, and other sporadic drips; no orally intubated patients on unit
• Unit may utilize a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner to care for a group of patients
• Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, with potential for up to 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
• 36 or 48-hour contracts available
• 13-week assignment length
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday
• May be required to float within the hospital system or to nearby Premier facilities, including main, south, and north campuses

Requirements

• License required if applicable
• BLS and ACLS certification required; must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Step-down (SD) or PCU experience required; ICU experience does not meet this requirement
• Ventilator experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Will be fitted for N95 respirator prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is needed
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Travel experience required
• Lab work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include admission and discharge of patients, communication of status changes to RN/MD, intake and output monitoring, and pain assessment and management
• Skilled care includes wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood glucose monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and IV therapy
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract; must be requested at time of initial submission with no additions after offer
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Previous Premier Health perm/PRN employees or prior agency staff not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before applying as a traveler, pending facility rehire approval
• Local candidates are not accepted; local radius is 50 miles
