Manufacturing Supervisor

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription: Steinway & Sons is currently looking for a Production Supervisor to oversee a team in our piano manufacturing Plant located in Astoria, Queens. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for scheduling and assigning work, inspecting department production, and coordinating interdepartmental activities to meet production targets and quality standards. They will monitor and prioritize the workflow of production to meet deadlines as well as provide direct feedback to the leadership team. Main Responsibilities:Maintain a safe work environment at all timesAbility to set daily/weekly/monthly goals, communicating them effectively to employeesMaintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.Coordinate and supervise workflow within the departmentDevelop and implement a production schedule according to projected requirementsMaintain effective employee relations – handles first step in grievance procedureCritical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to spot issues in efficiency/productivity and suggest improvementsProvides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requestsMaintain and control inventory of required materials and equipmentCompletes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities;

monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summariesTraining of new employees and upgrading skills of current employeesOrientation and instruction of new employeesSupervise maintenance of department tools, machines, and equipmentAccomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job

results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.Requirements: Qualifications, education, and experience:High School graduate5+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing environmentAbility to read and analyze engineering specifications and drawingsLean manufacturing experience preferredUnion environment experience a plusExcellent computer skills, including Microsoft officeOutstanding organizational and leadership abilitiesThe estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $80,000-$100,000. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
