Job Summary: Provide comprehensive health support to students by minimizing absences due to illness and fostering a nurturing environment that promotes well-being and academic success. Facilitate the educational process by addressing and removing health-related barriers, while enhancing existing medical and health education programs. Supervise and guide non-licensed and licensed practical nurses as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Efficiently manage supplies and equipment to reduce waste and promote cost savings. Complete duties promptly and document scheduled hours accurately. Participate in ongoing education and maintain proper documentation.
• Deliver quality triage, treatment, and first aid for students who are ill or injured. Stay current with state health board standards and policy updates. Employ critical thinking, multitasking, and delegation skills to improve student health experiences. Develop Individualized Healthcare Plans when necessary.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with students, staff, and parents. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Provide genuine care tailored to the diverse needs of students and support their educational journey.
• Adhere to universal precautions, fall prevention, and safe patient handling techniques. Administer medications safely using two patient identifiers and maintain accurate records. Stay informed on current pharmacology and ensure mandated immunizations and testing are completed annually. Educate school personnel on student health as appropriate and implement approved protocols.
• Maintain competency through routine substitute nursing roles. Exhibit leadership and serve as a positive role model and resource for school staff. Engage in professional development activities such as conferences, webinars, and professional organizations.
• Uphold high customer service standards and ethical practices. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. Provide holistic, competent care to students of all ages and backgrounds. Support future healthcare professionals through educational partnerships. Maintain a professional and calm care environment and perform clinical procedures within scope of practice.

Education and Experience Required:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate in Nursing Degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire.
• Minimum two years of experience in health care related to school-age children or prior school nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification and computer proficiency required.
• Area-specific education requirements to be obtained and maintained upon hire.

Licensure/Certifications: Active Registered Nurse licensure by the appropriate state nursing board.

Work Shift: Day shift with approximately 28.4 scheduled hours per week.
