Public Relations Account Manager

About the role REQ is seeking an Account Manager to join our growing Public Relations team. This role is responsible for managing client relationships, leading execution of strategic communications programs, and contributing to account growth and team development. You will operate as a trusted client partner, strategic contributor, and team leader, with accountability for both program performance and client satisfaction. We are especially seeking candidates located in or around Washington, DC. What you’ll do Client Leadership & Relationships Serve as a primary day-to-day client contact, building strong, trust-based relationships Communicate effectively with senior client stakeholders, including contributing to strategic discussions and presentations Understand client business priorities and provide informed recommendations that align communications efforts to broader goals Lead client meetings, planning sessions, and proactive check-ins Account Ownership & Project Management Manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, priorities, and deliverables are met Guide clients and internal teams on expectations, workflows, and program execution Anticipate challenges and proactively adjust plans based on business needs and external factors Lead account kickoffs and ensure programs are set up for long-term success Strategy, Media & Execution Excellence Own and drive media strategy for accounts, ensuring performance against agreed-upon goals and metrics Secure high-impact media coverage by leveraging strong knowledge of industry trends and media landscapes Lead development of high-quality content including press releases, thought leadership, and executive communications Deliver creative, timely ideas that drive results and uncover new opportunities for clients Team Leadership & Internal Influence Delegate effectively and provide clear direction to junior team members Mentor and coach team members, contributing to their growth and development Foster a collaborative, accountable team environment with a focus on high performance Serve as a go-to resource for guidance based on experience and positive leadership Business Growth & Financial Acumen Identify opportunities to grow accounts through new initiatives and expanded scope Contribute to new business efforts, including proposal development and pitch participation Support budgeting and ensure programs are delivered efficiently within agreed parameters Balance client expectations with business value to drive retention and growth Industry Presence & Network Development Build and maintain relationships with media, industry contacts, and prospective clients Contribute to thought leadership and knowledge sharing internally and externally Stay informed on industry trends to enhance client strategy and agency positioning Qualifications 6–10 years of experience in public relations or communications, ideally within a technology-focused agency Proven ability to manage accounts and deliver strategic, results-driven communications programs Strong media relations experience with demonstrated success securing impactful coverage Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, including executive-level communications Strong knowledge of application of AI in PR & marketing; ability to develop AI-driven reports, process efficiencies, new service capabilities Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail Experience mentoring junior team members and contributing to team leadership Strong understanding of technology, business trends, and integrated communications strategies Core Attributes Resourceful and solutions-oriented Strong sense of ownership and accountability Driven to deliver high performance for clients and teams Collaborative and invested in team and client success Proactive self‑starter who identifies and acts on opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr
