Position Location This position is located in Washington, DC. Job Overview Chugach Technical Solutions, LLC is seeking a highly qualified Senior Communications Specialist to support the USAID NICRA, Executive Action, and Regulatory Compliance Institutional Support Contract (NEAR ISC). The Communications Specialist is responsible for shaping and executing internal and external communications strategies. This role involves crafting compelling content, managing digital platforms, and coordinating the outreach efforts to enhance visibility and engagement across the organization. This position is 100% on site. Salary range: $150,000.00/Yr - 160,000.00/Yr Responsibilities Essential Job Duties: Develop and implement communication plans that support organizational goals and initiatives. Write, edit, and distribute a variety of materials including newsletters, success stories, presentations, and announcements. Maintain and update intranet and digital platforms in collaboration with IT and knowledge management teams. Plan and promote events that foster engagement and awareness. Create content for internal and external websites, ensuring consistency with branding and style guidelines. Evaluate communication effectiveness and recommend improvements. Coordinate messaging with external partners and internal stakeholders. Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period. Submit Status Reports on a regular basis, and as required. Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly. Complete required compliance training as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities: Strong grasp of strategic communications, public affairs, and digital media. Skilled in writing, editing, and managing content across multiple platforms. Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate in both virtual and in‑person environments. Familiarity with federal agency communication protocols and branding standards. Job Requirements Mandatory: Must be a US Citizen Must be able to obtain and maintain a Facility Access/ Public Trust clearance. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, International Relations, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications or public affairs. At least 2 years supporting a federal agency. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital publishing tools Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment background check and pre‑hire drug test. Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, International Relations, or a related field. At least 2 years supporting USAID (within the last 5 years). Published works in professional publications in support of federal agencies such as NSF or others. High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital publishing tools. Working Conditions: Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Work involves collaboration with multiple federal agencies, USAID staff, and implementing partners under recurring deadlines. This is a full‑time on‑site position in Washington, DC which may require work outside normal business hours on occasion. Physical Requirements: To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds.
