Associate Veterinarian Full-Time or Part-Time | Stephenville, Texas | Privately Owned Mixed-Animal Practice A Veterinary Career Built Around You Are you looking for a veterinary practice where you can practice good medicine, build lasting client relationships, and have a career that fits your life? We are looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join our privately owned, rural mixed-animal practice in Stephenville, Texas. As an independently owned practice, we value personal relationships, thoughtful medicine, and the ability to make decisions based on what is best for our patients, clients, and team. Our practice is predominantly canine and feline, with opportunities to work with bovine, equine, and small ruminants for those interested in mixed-animal medicine. We serve a rapidly growing community with deep agricultural roots, a strong equine culture, and clients who value personal relationships with their veterinary team. Whether you are an experienced veterinarian seeking a better work-life balance or a new graduate looking for mentorship and a supportive place to grow, we would love to talk with you. What Makes This Opportunity Different? Privately owned and independently operated- not corporately owned. Full-time, part-time, and customized scheduling options. Flexible appointment hours to accommodate your preferred schedule. Rotating weekends, with no after-hours emergency duty. Competitive base salary plus production, with earning potential exceeding $150,000. Paid vacation, holidays, and parental leave. Continuing education allowance. Coverage of professional licensing fees, DEA registration, professional dues, and liability insurance. Mentorship opportunities for new graduates. Potential future buy-in or ownership opportunity for the right veterinarian. A relationship-focused practice where you can make a meaningful impact in your community. The Opportunity Our goal is to create an environment where veterinarians can practice thoughtful, compassionate medicine while developing the professional relationships and clinical skills that make a career rewarding. As a privately owned practice, we value the personal connections that make independent veterinary medicine special. We appreciate the flexibility to adapt to individual circumstances, maintain a personal approach to care, and build a practice around shared values rather than a one-size-fits-all model. Your primary caseload will consist of canine and feline patients, with opportunities to incorporate bovine, equine, and small ruminant medicine based on your interests and experience. You can focus primarily on small-animal practice or explore a broader mixed-animal caseload. We value clinical judgment, clear communication, teamwork, and the ability to build trust with clients over time. We want our veterinarians to feel supported in their decisions, encouraged to grow, and empowered to develop their own approach to practicing excellent medicine. Future Ownership Opportunity Interested in becoming a practice owner someday? We'd love to explore that possibility with you. For the right veterinarian, there may be an opportunity for future buy-in or ownership. We are interested in building lasting professional relationships and would welcome a conversation with someone who sees themselves growing with the practice over time. Whether your goal is to focus on excellent clinical medicine, develop your professional interests, or eventually take on an ownership role, we want to understand your vision and explore how we can build a mutually rewarding futuretogether. What You'll Do Provide high-quality medical care to canine and feline patients, including wellness, preventive care, diagnostics, and treatment of medical conditions. Develop individualized treatment plans and communicate recommendations clearly and compassionately. Build lasting relationships with clients through trust, honesty, education, and consistent follow-through. Collaborate with the veterinary and support teams to deliver an excellent patient and client experience. Participate in bovine, equine, and small ruminant medicine as desired. Pursue continuing education and develop clinical interests that support your professional goals. Contribute to a positive workplace culture grounded in mutual respect, teamwork, and high standards of care. Become an active and trusted member of the local veterinary community. Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who believes excellent veterinary medicine begins with excellent relationships. The ideal candidate is: Compassionate and client-focused: You listen, communicate clearly, and help clients make informed decisions about their animals' care. Committed to building trust: You value long-term relationships and understand the importance of continuity of care. Collaborative: You respect your colleagues and support team members and enjoy working together toward the best outcomes for patients. Curious and growth-oriented: You welcome opportunities to learn, refine your clinical skills, and explore areas of medicine that interest you. Community-minded: You appreciate the important role veterinarians play in supporting local families, farms, ranches, and businesses. Practical and thoughtful: You balance high-quality medicine with individualized treatment plans and realistic client considerations. Interested in a sustainable career: You want to grow professionally while maintaining a fulfilling life outside the clinic. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school and eligibility for Texas veterinary licensure are required. Experienced veterinarians and new graduates are encouraged to apply. Mixed-animal experience is welcome but not required. Mentorship and Professional Growth New graduates are welcome here!! We recognize that transitioning from veterinary school to independent practice is a significant step. We want new veterinarians to have the opportunity to develop confidence, strengthen their clinical judgment, and build practical skills in a supportive environment. Mentorship can be tailored to your experience and needs, with opportunities for case discussions, guidance on diagnostics and treatment planning, and support as you develop proficiency in surgery, dentistry, and other clinical interests. We also welcome experienced veterinarians who want to expand their skill set, explore mixed-animal medicine, or develop new areas of professional interest. Our goal is to help you become the veterinarian you want to be—not to expect you to know everything on day one. Compensation and Benefits We believe veterinarians should be rewarded for their skills, dedication, and contributions to the practice. Our compensation package includes: Competitive base salary plus production-based compensation. Earning potential exceeding $150,000, depending on production and schedule. Paid vacation. Paid holidays. Paid parental leave. Continuing education allowance. Coverage of Texas veterinary licensing fees. DEA registration fees. Professional dues. Professional liability insurance. Flexible scheduling, with full-time, part-time, and customized arrangements considered. A Schedule That Works for Your Life We know that the right schedule looks different for different people—and may change throughout your career. We offer flexibility in employment status, with rotating weekend coverage and no after-hours emergency duty. Whether you want a traditional full-time position, part-time work, or a customized arrangement, we are open to a conversation. We want you to have the opportunity to do meaningful work without sacrificing the parts of life that matter most outside the clinic. Build Relationships That Matter In a community like ours, veterinary medicine is personal. Clients trust us with animals who are members of their families, important parts of their livelihoods, and central to their way of life. We believe trust is built through listening, honesty, consistency, and a genuine commitment to each patient's well-being. We want our veterinarians to have the time and opportunity to know their clients, understand their concerns, and become trusted partners in their animals' care. We also value being part of the community we serve. From supporting local families and pet owners to working with livestock producers and the equine community, rural veterinary medicine offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference. We want you to build relationships that extend beyond individual appointments and develop a practice community where clients feel known, respected, and cared for. Why Stephenville, Texas? Known as the "Cowboy Capital of the World", Stephenville offers a distinctive blend of Western heritage, agricultural tradition, and small-town community. Erath County has deep roots in ranching and livestock production, and the surrounding area has a strong horse and equine culture. For veterinarians who enjoy rural life, horses, livestock, and the outdoors, the region offers a natural connection between professional interests and life outside the clinic. Stephenville is also home to Tarleton State University, bringing the energy of a growing college town alongside local restaurants, shops, community events, parks, and family activities. Located approximately 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth, it offers access to larger-city amenities while maintaining a more relaxed pace of life. It's a place where local relationships matter, community involvement is valued, and a veterinarian has the opportunity to become a familiar and trusted part of the community. Let's Build the Right Position Together We are not simply looking to fill a vacancy. We are looking for the right veterinarian to join our team and help shape the future of our practice. Tell us what matters to you: your ideal schedule, the medicine you enjoy practicing, the skills you want to develop, and the kind of career you hope to build. We are willing to have that conversation and explore how we can create an opportunity that works for everyone. If you want to practice good medicine, build meaningful relationships, and enjoy a career with room to grow—including the possibility of future ownership we would love to meet you. #J-18808-Ljbffr NCVMA
