Job Title: Senior Mainframe/COBOL Developer
Location: Blythewood, SC
Duration: 12+ Months

Project Scope:
The Client operates a multi-tiered architecture supporting a wide range of business functions. The application tier primarily uses MicroFocus Visual COBOL running under IIS on Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022 . The contractor will be responsible for developing new functionalities and enhancing existing ones within the Phoenix II system and related applications. Tasks may involve web services, batch jobs, data extraction, and reporting across various SCDMV departments.
This role involves close collaboration with both UI teams (working in .NET) and database teams (using Oracle and MS SQL Server). The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of minimal supervision and direct engagement with business stakeholders.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Analyze Phoenix II, Web Services, and batch applications
• Lead analysis and resolution of assigned system issues
• Propose and implement technical solutions
• Develop, test, and promote application changes
• Interact with end-users to ensure solution alignment
• Provide regular progress updates to development management

Required Technical Skills:

• 8 years of development with MicroFocus Visual COBOL on Windows Server 2019/2022 , including batch processing and IIS integration
• 4 years of experience using Visual Studio 2019/2022 , including advanced debugging capabilities
• 4+ years of application development interfacing with Oracle and/or MS SQL Server
• 5 years of writing complex SQL queries for Oracle and SQL Server

Preferred Skills:

• 2+ years of IIS setup/configuration
• 1+ year of development with Microsoft C# .NET
• Experience with production troubleshooting and support

Certifications (Preferred but not required):

• Microsoft Technical Certifications (factored in selection)
• MicroFocus Certifications (strongly preferred)
