Role Snapshot:

The Events Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and Events and is part of the Operations Team at Junior Achievement of South Florida (JA). The Events team at Junior Achievement of South Florida works closely with the Development and Programs Teams to create, produce, and manage events throughout the year. This position also assists with JA World facility rental events, including preparation, logistics, client relations, management day of event, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• While this position has no direct reports, the Event Manager leads project teams comprised of coworkers and volunteers .

Your broad responsibilities will include:

• Working closely with the Event team to implement and incorporate an annual event plan.
• Assisting with executing the vision of the department and JA clients/supporters.
• Developing and managing the event work plans.
• Assisting with creating event sponsorships and budgets.
• Maintaining event budgets and monthly reconciliations.
• Assisting with planning décor, entertainment, and rentals.
• Managing JA staff and volunteer teams for events.
• Tracking cash, in-kind donations, and expenses for each event.
• Solicitation and collection of auction items.
• Procuring restaurants for major events.
• Uploading and tracking auction items with third party vendors.
• Setting up committee and co-chair meetings.
• Attending above meetings, record meeting details and prepare recap.
• Preparing weekly recap of event overview for team and co-chairs.
• Managing guest lists, seating charts, and name tags.
• Ensuring all event guests are entered into CRM on a timely basis.
• Working with vendors prior to events and during set-up and break-down.
• Participation in post-event debriefing, meetings, and documenting suggestions.
• Communicating with clients that rent the JA facility, including collecting required documents before the event, greeting clients, assisting with troubleshooting throughout the event, coordinating external food and beverage services, etc.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on event management experience; within a nonprofit setting highly valued
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• Experience in implementing live and/or silent auctions a plus.
• Proficiency with Blackbaud and OneCause tools is beneficial.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, and occasionally required to reach, bend, lift, or climb.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
