Special Waste Coordinator - Sales

Position Summary The Sales Coordinator, Special Waste provides technical guidance, support, and coordination of the processes and procedures developed to evaluate, approve and accept special waste streams at a Republic Landfill. The position includes ensuring compliance with solid waste permits, state and federal regulatory requirements and internal company policies. This role functions as a liaison between the field sales representatives, the corporate special waste department and the landfill for the preparation, field review, submittal, formal review and approval (or rejection) of special waste profiles. Principal Responsibilities Assist the Special Waste Representative(s) and existing or potential customers in coordinating the completion of special waste profiles for review and submittal for approval. Perform field-level review of completed special waste profiles, analytical results and ensure analytical testing requirements are achieved prior to submitting to the corporate special waste department for approval. Submit completed documentation to the corporate special waste department for formal review and approval for special waste acceptance. Communicate with the corporate special waste department on pending profiles and act as a liaison between the corporate office, sales representatives and the customer or Republic divisions to resolve technical deficiencies or request additional testing or waste characterization. Distribute approved profile documentation to the landfill and communicate rejected or incomplete profiles to the sales representative for resolution with the customer. Proactively monitor approved special waste profiles for expiration dates and coordinate with the Special Waste Representative(s) or customer on the re-certification process, schedules and required analytical data and/or documentation. Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of current state, federal, landfill or company special waste rules, requirements and processes. Submit state-required applications and/or notifications as required. Manage special waste profiles, documentation and analytical reports for existing and potential customers. Track pending files, transfer and maintain historical files in an electronic file for storage. Sell small-quantity generator call-in business as defined by the Director, Special Waste Sales. Regularly meet with the Director, Special Waste Sales, general manager and Special Waste Representative(s) to review monthly special waste activity reports and customer relationship activities as required. Assist in production and distribution of marketing materials for promotion of special waste and landfill disposal services. Participate in company-sponsored activities as required. Complete proactive, job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of state, federal and landfill special waste rules, requirements and processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic knowledge of marketing, presentation and sales techniques. Well-developed time management and organization skills with ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision. Professional presentation skills and good follow-through, adhering to work schedule and maintaining a positive outlook. Ability to identify information needed to clarify a situation, seek information from appropriate sources and tackle a problem using a logical, sequential approach while anticipating implications of actions. Self-motivated, trustworthy and maintains the highest level of confidentiality at all times. Service orientation and a strong work ethic with a drive to win and willingness to take appropriate risks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and potential marketing software. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED. Minimum of one year of customer-service experience.
