Surgery - General Physician

Locums - Mt. Shasta, California, General Surgery Opening Coverage Dates: October 8, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. - October 12, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. Ongoing sporadic coverage as needed - TBD Reason for Coverage: Expanding provider pool to cover gaps Coverage & Setting: Hospital-based General and Trauma Surgery Level III Trauma Center 100% ED call coverage 24-hour call: 7:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m. Full General Surgery and Trauma privileges required Approximately 800 trauma cases annually Clinical Scope & Procedures: General and Trauma Surgery Endoscopy/scopes - Required Endoscopy coverage is necessary due to no local GI coverage Scope volume varies significantly; approximately 2 per week at times, but may be fewer or none Trauma cases commonly include motor vehicle accidents, penetrating trauma, motorcycle and recreational vehicle accidents, and other outdoor/recreational injuries Support & Systems: At least one of the two employed General Surgeons is typically available locally if additional support is needed Emergency Medicine physician always in-house EMR: Cerner Requirements: Board Certified - Required Board Eligible candidates accepted if within 3-5 years of residency completion Active California license - Required California DEA - Required ATLS - Required; candidates previously ATLS certified may be considered Endoscopy experience and competency - Required Previous experience within the health system - Preferred What is great about Mt.
