Our Microbiology Lab Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all microbiological control programs at the laboratory meet the requirements of the QS 023 Microbiological Control Standard. The role reports to the Plant Quality Manager and focuses on improving microbiological control, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining valid results throughout the site. Location: Hodges, South Carolina, United States. Responsibilities Understand basic laboratory safety equipment and procedures and ensure compliance with local environmental regulations. Train and develop laboratory staff using coaching and feedback principles aligned with the Competency Development Map for Microbiology. Set up and administer a laboratory quality assurance system covering method and material qualification, equipment calibration, and maintenance. Maintain laboratory quality control systems to assure validity of data and document data reporting and record maintenance. Ensure data integrity and correct interpretation of data, effectively communicating results to management. Participate in internal and external audits (contract manufacturers & labs, suppliers) as part of the Plant & Quality Team. Interface with Global and Divisional Quality/Microbiology teams to provide input on programs, procedures, methods, and support implementation. Direct improvements in microbiological control throughout the laboratory and the entire site facility. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related biological science, including at least four courses of significant coursework in Microbiology. Minimum of 3 years of industrial and manufacturing experience in Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, Food, or Environmental product production. Experience in manufacturing lab work and plant floor controls. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred. Understanding of supply chain and demand chain KPI linkages and interdependencies. Previous experience as a Microbiologist from manufacturing plants or global technology centers. Demonstrated ability to apply continuous improvement tools to drive positive change. Engagement with site, division, manufacturing, and technology management to provide leadership and resources for full conformance to quality and microcontrol standards. Network building with supply chain, technology, procurement, legal, and regulatory departments to foster teamwork and effective management of microbiological requirements. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $96,800 - $121,000 USD. Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit sharing, and long-term incentives for executive-level roles.
