Asst/Assoc Athletic Trainer

Responsible for assisting the Director of Sports Medicine in the prevention, care and reconditioning of injuries incurred by athletes participating in our intercollegiate athletic programs. This will include: Athlete Education, Conditioning of Athletes, Evaluation of Injured Athletes, First Aid for Injuries, Preventative Taping, Reconditioning of Injured Athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer may be assigned a primary team responsibility during two of the three season and then be assigned to the general athletic training room operation during the third season. This position is a Full Time B, 10 Month position eligible to receive fringe benefits. Potential for reduced rate of housing on campus. Assist the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer and perform the following duties as necessary: Be available for scheduled HOME practices and intercollegiate contests Attend AWAY contests as decided by the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Director Work with team physicians under their direction and with respect to: Physician/Hospital referrals Treatment of athletes Reconditioning of injured athletes Return of athletes to competition Administer first aid to injured athletes Record all injuries and treatments/keep the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer informed of all injuries Help maintain records of all injuries and treatments Select/apply protective equipment as necessary Tape athletes as necessary Maintain stocked first aid kits for teams Stock training room supplies Counsel and advise coaches and athletes on matters pertaining to: Conditioning and training Safety, playing status, and reconditioning Diet/nutrition/stretching/prevention of injuries Open and close training room as scheduled Perform all modalities necessary for treatment Maintain a safe and clean training room environment Communicate any questions and/or concerns to the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer #J-18808-Ljbffr St. Thomas Aquinas College
