Relief Family Support Worker

Spectrum Human Services

Make Your Work Matter-Every Day

Relief Family Support Worker (Case Manager - Multi-Program)

Outreach Support Services | MDHHS Programs

This isn't just a job. It's a calling.

If you became a social worker to make a real difference-to step into difficult situations, support families in crisis, and help children find stability-this role was built for you.

At Spectrum, we're looking for compassionate, driven professionals who are ready to show up where they're needed most. As a Relief Family Support Worker, you won't be confined to just one program-you'll be a critical part of multiple service lines, ensuring that no family goes without support when it matters most.

What You'll Do (And Why It Matters)

You'll step into a true case manager role, working directly with children, youth, and families navigating complex challenges. Your work will span multiple MDHHS-funded programs-giving you broad experience and the opportunity to impact lives in a meaningful way.

In this role, you will:
  • Carry a diverse caseload across programs like family preservation, parenting time, and juvenile justice services
  • Provide hands-on support through home visits, community-based services, and supervised parenting time
  • Guide families toward stability through coaching, skill-building, and connection to resources
  • Ensure continuity of care, stepping in when families need support most
  • Partner with courts, schools, and MDHHS, advocating for your clients every step of the way
  • Document and track progress, helping measure outcomes and drive positive change
Every interaction is an opportunity-to stabilize a home, to support a parent, to change a child's trajectory.

Who You Are

You're more than qualified-you're committed.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
  • You have experience working with at-risk youth and families
  • You're adaptable, resilient, and comfortable managing multiple cases and priorities
  • You can build trust quickly while maintaining professional boundaries
  • You're just as comfortable in the field as you are documenting your work
  • You believe in meeting families where they are-without judgment
Why This Role Is Different

This isn't a single-program position. It's an opportunity to:
  • Expand your clinical and case management skills across multiple service models
  • Gain exposure to court-involved, prevention, and family support services
  • Be part of a team that values flexibility, collaboration, and mission-driven work
  • Make a broader impact by serving families across different systems-not just one
No two days are the same-and that's exactly the point.

What You'll Need
  • Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends
  • A commitment to ethical practice, documentation accuracy, and client-centered care

The Impact You'll Have

This role is for professionals who want to be on the front lines of change-not behind a desk, not removed from the work, but actively walking alongside families as they rebuild, recover, and move forward.

You will see the difference you make-in real time.
