HVAC Service Technician

HVAC (Union Position)

The position provides HVAC maintenance and repair to buildings, equipment, and district owned sites.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Qualified Training Program - 2 years minimum (Required)
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive HVAC experience in commercial and industrial setting.
• Current HVAC License (State of Ohio) - Preferred
• Current Refrigerant Recovery License (State of Ohio) - Required
• Detailed knowledge of the maintenance, repair, construction of HVAC systems and Food Equipment.
• Detailed knowledge of HVAC system controls.
• Knowledgeable in plumbing systems including ability to solder, braze, and weld.
• Certified welder (preferred)
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
• Knowledge of applicable HVAC codes in the State of Ohio.
• General knowledge of the maintenance and repair of buildings and related systems and equipment.
• Proficient at working with building drawings, specifications, and operating & maintenance manuals.
• Detailed knowledge of OSHA Rules and Regulations for maintenance workers.
• Proficient at using tools and equipment needed in the repair and maintenance of buildings.
• Proficient at operating an aerial lift.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Essential Functions

• Maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems such as - chillers, boilers, hot water systems, compressors, and all related air handling equipment.
• Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program for HVAC systems.
• Maintain as-built drawings, and operating and maintenance manuals (including warranties)
• Maintain HVAC supplies inventory.
• Assist in managing HVAC budget.
• Respond to customer's needs as appropriate.
• Maintain Facilities recordkeeping such as work orders, safety records.
• Maintain applicable safety certifications as required.
• Promote and adhere to environmental & safety policies and practices.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Resourceful in analyzing and solving problems.
• Possession of a valid Ohio Driver's License and a good driving record.
• Excellent physical condition as required for lifting (50 lbs.), climbing, crawling, bending, and twisting.
• Routine maintenance and repair of district Plumbing, HVAC, Building Structure & Roofing, Doors & Locks,
• Building finishes, District Grounds and snow removal.
• All other duties as assigned.
