Amazon Music Search Science team is seeking an experienced Applied Scientist who will join a team of experts in machine learning. The role focuses on understanding and classifying different forms of music and creating interactive experiences to help users find the music they are in the mood for. You will address problems in music classification, recommender systems, dialogue systems, NLP, and music information retrieval, working with petabytes of data, rapidly prototyping, deploying at scale, and evaluating results through statistically relevant experiments across millions of customers. Your work will directly improve the experience of Amazon Music customers on Alexa/Echo, mobile, and web. Key Job Responsibilities Use machine learning, deep learning, LLMs and Agentic AI techniques to create scalable solutions for business problems. Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of Amazon data to help automate and optimize key processes. Design, develop, and evaluate AI models for predictive learning. Work closely with software engineering teams to drive model implementations and new feature creations. Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large‑scale data analysis, model development, model validation, and model implementation. Research and implement novel machine‑learning and statistical approaches. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of building models for business applications. PhD, or Master’s degree plus 4+ years of experience in CS, CE, ML, or related field. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or a related language. Experience building machine‑learning models or developing algorithms for business applications. Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high‑performance computing. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Unix/Linux. Experience in professional software development. Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences or journals.
