Food Runner Job Description


Our DoorDash Food Runner is primarily responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food handed off to them by Dashers to the OpenAI food racks and kitchen counters. This person will be responsible for the cleanliness of the racks/kitchen food service counter, organization of food on these surfaces, and effective communication with the manager/POC.


Essential Job Functions:

• Track all DoorDash catering, group, and individual orders between 11 am and 2 pm Mon to Thurs
• Be contactable by Dashers and Support staff regarding delivery of orders, and meet Dashers within 5 mins of arrival
• Own and operate the rolling cart provided to move food safely between Dx drop off and placement on rack/open kitchen area
• Ensure delivered items are at Customers' food rack within 10 mins of handoff by Dasher
• Ensure catering orders are set up (taken out of bags, and laid out) in the open kitchen area within 10 mins of handoff by Dasher, in a clean and tidy manner
• Coordinate with office manager to ensure serve ware, utensils, crockery, and napkins are available for easy food consumption
• Communicate effectively and courteously
• Perform calmly and effectively under stressful conditions
• Promote an atmosphere of teamwork by assisting office manager/team members in all aspects around DoorDash meal supply
• Be courteous, friendly, pleasant and punctual
• Stand and walk for an entire shift, as well as be physically able (frequently bend, stoop, reach, lift, carry and wipe) to handle food and operate a rolling cart
• Maintain a neat appearance and persona that reflects the image of DoorDash
• Other Requirements: Be willing to go through the customer's background check, and have photo and identification required to process their required building badge

What the Food Runner will not do:

• Situation management when orders get canceled/have missing or incomplete items/do not get delivered/are late
• Deliver orders to multiple areas/individual deliveries within the office

Requirements from Provider:

• 1 person with 3-4 hr daily coverage from Mon-Th (on all customer working days (calendar will be provided by the customer), between the hours of 11 - 2pm
• Seamless backup coverage/management
