Job Description The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a consultant to employees and leaders within designated University departments, developing and nurturing partnerships to assess and anticipate human resource-related needs. The HRBP performs a range of functions relating to human resources management, compensation administration, performance management, employee relations, and other complex and routine human resources services. Experience REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five years’ professional level HR consultant or generalist experience. Supervisory experience is helpful. Considerable knowledge is required of the principles of Human Resource management. Working knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations. Proficiency with Banner HRIS is helpful. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related field. Licenses/Certifications/Credentials Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through HRCI or SHRM-CP required. SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities Human Resources Coordinator Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Works closely with employees and leaders to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase employee engagement, productivity, and retention Develops effective programs and solutions that improve workplace experience and performance for partnered departments Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to leaders relating to coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary action, etc. Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation for University partners and collaborates with colleagues within the Human Resources department to develop and implement effective workplace policies. Identifies training needs and creates or procures professional development and in-service opportunities for employees and managers Consults with departmental partners on organization development and staffing needs within their areas; oversees the recruitment and selection processes for designated departments, including hiring qualified employees into open positions and ensuring necessary documentation is completed. Monitors budgeted staffing allocations and maintains accurate position controls in collaboration with the University’s Controller. Assists managers in developing and/or editing position descriptions. Responsible to determine FLSA status and benchmark compensation Manages accommodation requests, supporting employees and departments in an inclusive manner Manages HR technologies, such as applicant tracking systems, human resources information systems, computer-based training systems Audits employee records for correctness and reconciles discrepancies; provides necessary reporting information to stakeholders and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements Responds to request for information from DOL, EEOC, unemployment division, and / or other regulatory agencies Communicates effectively with all individuals within our organization; writes, researches, and edits employee-related materials Supervises HR Coordinators ensuring effective work and appropriate developmental opportunities. Performs charge, as needed, in the Director’s absence Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required Represent University to local organizations. Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s). Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior. Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules. Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality. Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned. This role serves as a Title IX Responsible Employee.
