The Ledger, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our production team in Lakeland, Florida.

If you have hands-on experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery, production equipment, conveyors, motors, pumps, printing equipment, or other mechanical systems , we want to hear from you.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, making repairs, fabricating components, and helping keep a fast-paced production operation running safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial production equipment and mechanical systems.
• Perform advanced mechanical repairs and fabrication as needed.
• Maintain equipment including printing presses, inserting equipment, stackers, strappers, conveyors, motors, pumps, dryers, labelers, applicators, bindery equipment, and other production machinery.
• Perform preventive maintenance to help reduce equipment downtime.
• Assist with the installation, modification, and upgrading of production equipment.
• Identify mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairs.
• Work with management, production employees, and outside service providers when needed.
• Help maintain production quality, accuracy, efficiency, and on-time performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Ensure machine guards and other safety equipment are properly installed and functioning.
• Follow OSHA, EPA, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, forklift, and other required safety procedures.
• Immediately report equipment concerns, safety hazards, accidents, injuries, and near misses.

What We're Looking For

We'd especially like to hear from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Industrial maintenance
• Mechanical maintenance and repair
• Manufacturing or production equipment
• Printing or press equipment
• Conveyors, motors, pumps, and mechanical drive systems
• Machine repair and troubleshooting
• Preventive maintenance
• Mechanical fabrication
• Machining or millwright work
• Equipment installation and modification

Printing industry experience is valuable, but candidates with strong mechanical maintenance experience from other manufacturing or industrial environments are encouraged to apply.

This isn't a position where you'll spend your entire shift doing the same thing. You'll troubleshoot equipment, solve mechanical problems, perform repairs, support production, and play an important role in keeping The Ledger's Lakeland production operation moving.
