Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill or injured pediatric patients in a 21-bed PICU setting
• Manage patients presenting with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-acuity care across both medical and surgical patient populations
• Float to other units within the organization as needed based on staffing requirements; travelers are first to float
• Pass a required Telemetry/Arrhythmia exam prior to start date with a minimum score of 80% and 100% identification of lethal rhythms

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or a compact license from the traveler's permanent address state
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
• PALS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum of two years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last three years in the PICU specialty
• Pediatric ICU experience required; solid PICU background with some CV ICU, cardiac step-down, or general cardiac experience required
• Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start (two attempts permitted; a third attempt requires submission of a cardiac interpretation review course certificate of completion; failure after three attempts will result in assignment cancellation)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
• Experience with ECMO and/or organ transplantation patient populations
• Familiarity with Level One Pediatric Trauma and high-acuity neonatal/pediatric environments
