Job Description The Licensed Mental Health Clinician, LMHC, for Harvard University Health Services is a member of the Counseling and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team at HUHS and will work collaboratively with the Sports Medicine program within the Department of Athletics to provide mental health services to student‑athletes. This position is responsible for developing an Integrated Mental Health Program for Student‑Athletes and Sports Medicine. Within CAMHS, the clinician provides assessment and clinical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation to student‑athletes within an integrated model that combines physical and mental health services. (This is a full‑time, seasonal position: 40 hours per week from August 1 to May 31 with a seasonal leave from June 1 to July 31.) Job‑Specific Responsibilities Facilitate the clinical management of patients through evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and referral to appropriate resources. Provide individual, group, and crisis intervention. Coordinate out‑patient visits to ensure timely access to the appropriate services. Identify and monitor high‑risk patients and expedite an individualized crisis management plan. Develop and maintain mechanisms to assure continuity of care for individuals requiring acute care. Provide mental health care toward behavioral disordered eating. Document patient education consistent with HUHS policies and procedures. Assist and participate in the development of treatment plans consistent with CAMHS policies and procedures. Supervise trainees from the Sports Medicine LMHC program at Boston University. Support primary care model. Manage caseload appropriately. Document all patient contacts accurately and in a timely manner. Manage clinically expected outcomes to treatment. Make appropriate referrals. Identify and assess appropriateness of care and accessibility. Education and Outreach For Student‑Athletes Partner with the Sports Medicine team to conduct mental health screenings for student‑athletes during annual physicals. For the Sports Medicine Team Provide psychoeducation and support around mental health concerns as needed. Collaborate and make recommendations to the Sports Medicine team to support mental health concerns. Consult with athletic training staff regarding students with mental health concerns. Professional/Team Workplace Accountability Work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Participate in quality assurance/improvement activities in compliance with AAAHC standards and identified areas for improvement; adhere to HUHS documentation standards and monitoring. Serve on HUHS departmental committees as needed. Demonstrate dependable work ethic. Compliance Adhere to the expectations and professional responsibilities of the department. Employ the standards, practices, and procedures of the department. Complete and comply with all HUHS training requirements including HIPAA Privacy and Security. Report non‑compliance incidents to the supervisor, manager, and/or Compliance Officer. Adhere to NCAA and Ivy League Rules and Regulations. Adhere to HUHS documentation standards and monitoring. Working Conditions Travel may be required. Work nights and weekends may be required. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Master's degree or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience. Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) with current Massachusetts license. Additional Qualifications and Skills Demonstrated work experience in student‑athlete mental health issues, consultation to athletic trainers, assessment/treatment of a diverse population, substance addiction, eating disorders, multicultural adjustment issues, and performance issues. Experience with emergency care and crisis management. Certificates and Licenses Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) with current Massachusetts license. Must be certified in first aid, CPR and AED. Additional Information Standard Hours/Schedule: 40 hours per week (full‑time, seasonal: August 1 – May 31 with seasonal leave June 1 – July 31).
