RN/L&D Ratios: 1:1 days and nights Avg Daily Census: 7-10 Rooms: 28 Beds: 33 Years of experience REQ: 3 First-timers accepted: No Weekend REQ: 4-5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for nightshift and Saturday and Sunday for dayshift. PLUS, obligation to work a minimum of 2 Sunday night shifts/2 Friday day shift per 6-week schedule Certs REQ: BLS, FHM, NRP Skills REQ: Antepartum, Facility births/month 100-200, Facility births/month 200-300, Labor and Delivery, Low risk, Assist with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation), Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus, Sterile vaginal exam, Triage of obstetrical patients, Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring), Asthma, Diabetes mellitus, HELLP Syndrome, Infectious disease, Malpresentations (breech / face / brow), Multiple Gestation, Pre-eclampsia / eclampsia, Premature Rupture of Membranes, Preterm labor, RH incompatibilities, VBAC management / trial of labor, Use of Rapid Response/Code teams, Telemetry Interpretation, Spiral Electrode Placement, Use of External Fetal Monitoring, Use of Internal Fetal Monitoring, Use of IUPC (Intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration, Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, Administration of blood & blood products, Drawing Venous Blood, Starting and maintaining IVs, Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring, Antiseizure, Antihypertensives, Insulin drips, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins, Terbutaline, Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery, Assist with vaginal delivery, Circulate for C-section, Forceps/vacuum extraction, Hemorrhage/shock, Recover C-Section, Sterile vaginal exam, ID/Security Banding, Neonatal Resuscitation, Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation, Epidural Anesthesia, General Anesthesia, Opioids, Pain assessment & management, Use of PCA (IV), Breastfeeding Support/lactation support, Episiotomy/Incisional Care, Foley catheter insertion/management, Fundus / lochia / perineum care, Wound Assessment and Care, Vaginal Delivery, Cesarean Section, Bladder Distension, Multiple Births, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Pregnancy induced hypertension, Isolation Precautions/PPE, Vaccine Administration Is on-call REQ? 2 on call shifts per 6-week schedule period Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs? Yes, To postpartum unit to provide couplet care or care for postpartum mom only's Locals accepted: No, home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility Pending License accepted: Yes RTO Restrictions: No more than 7 days Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks. The cancelled shifts must be the regular shift length to which the Contractor Personnel is assigned Special Requirements: Unit includes L&D and postpartum in the same physical space. For this reason, agency staff with LDRP experience are preferred, but would consider individuals with LD/LDR experience only. L&D unit houses antepartum and intrapartum patients. This unit has 11 labor rooms and 5 triage rooms. This agency contracts would not be required to work OB triage. The postpartum unit has 15 rooms, with 2 additional flex rooms that can be used for labor or PP patients. Postpartum and post-operative GYN patients are bedded in this unit. There are also 5 rooms that be converted into adult med/surg overflow but those patients would be cared for by med/surg staff, NOT OB RNs. Patient assignments are based upon patient's acuity per AWHONN staffing standards. In L&D, the nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:1 but could be 1:2 or 1:3 (antepartum and/or cervical ripening), again depending upon patient acuity.
