CNC Machinist - Swiss Set-Up Operator - Level III

Sets-up and operates CNC Swiss Machines to produce highly precision component parts that meet all quality standards. Must be able to work independently and provide training/guidance to others. This role is 100% in office at our plant in East Hartford, CT. At HORST we offer a variety of benefits including but not limited to: Competitive PTO Package Paid Company Holidays 401K Match Program Medical, Dental, Vision Benefits Tuition Reimbursement/Assistance Program Major Areas of Responsibility Set-up and operate Swiss Turning machines (Citizen L20, A20, A32, M32, M32Y) Work with blueprints, operation sheets, and other work instructions From blueprints, operation sheets, travelers or other specifications, set up and complete machining operations to produce a quality part Check that material meets specifications; obtain bar stock or material from staging area Perform complex set-ups of own work or for others Make required adjustments to machinery; obtain tooling, gauges, inserts and other equipment; bring up the program and edit as necessary Assist other Operators or Set-up/Operators with set-up or production problems and help train other set-up/operators Ensure all manufactured parts comply with quality standards Perform visual inspections and dimensional verification using measuring instruments per department/Quality Assurance guidelines Replace worn or damaged tooling as necessary Verify and record actual part count prior to and upon completion of work Perform routine maintenance on equipment and maintain fluid levels Keep equipment and work area clean and organized Return excess bar stock or material to staging area Move finished work to assigned area; enter all work performed into the database and document all scrap Notify leadperson or supervisor of parts shortages or machining problems Pack and wash/preserve parts as needed Perform other machining and assembly operations as needed Perform other related duties as required Interact with associates from all departments Requirements High School diploma or equivalent; technical school training a plus 7 years of set-up experience required Experience with aerospace products and/or other close tolerance parts is a plus Familiar with Fanuc and/or Mitsubishi Controls Ability to set and change tools Ability to use standard gauges and inspection techniques Experience with SPC, inspection documentation, and problem solving is a plus Strong interpersonal and analytical skills Ability to read and write comments, understand operation sheets/blueprints, specifications, and all applicable company/customer paperwork Ability to read CNC programs Five plus years of increasingly diverse experience in a machine shop or CNC machining environment Physical Requirements Ability to push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs Able to stand for up to 8+ hours #J-18808-Ljbffr
