As Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) of the SICU and CVICU, you will provide clinical supervision and unit coordination to promote a cohesive team, promote effective care and improve treatment outcomes. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. This position offers a great way to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to deliver the best support and treatment possible.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

\n

\n

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

\n

\n
• \n

  Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.

\n
• \n

  Provide effective and efficient patient care to patients of all ages on assigned shifts or as otherwise designated.

\n
• \n

  Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.

\n
• \n

  Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.

\n
• \n

  Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and other operational issues.

\n
• \n

  Review major operational and patient care issues with Nurse Managers.

\n
• \n

  Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions, and monitor attendance.

\n
• \n

  Interview, select, and orient new caregivers.

\n
• \n

  Monitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.

\n
• \n

  Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate staffing coverage on all shifts.

\n
• \n

  Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies, and research initiatives.

\n
• \n

  Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.

\n
• \n

  Develop and deliver education for high-acuity critical care therapies, procedures, and advanced medical devices.

\n
• \n

  Provide bedside training and competency validation for therapies including ECMO, Impella, IABP, CRRT, vasoactive drips, IV Veletri, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac output monitoring, temporary pacemakers, FloTrac, EVDs, lumbar drains, ultrasound-guided IV access, and stroke management.

  Educate caregivers on the care of complex patient populations, including heart and liver transplant recipients, patients with shock, open-heart recovery, neurosurgical cases, and other complex surgical populations.

• \n

  Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation, onboarding, residency programs, simulation training, and ongoing professional development for critical care nurses.

\n
• \n

  Provide bedside coaching, mentoring, and clinical support to new graduates and experienced nurses to promote safe, evidence-based practice.

\n
• \n

  Maintain employee credentialing records, onboarding documentation, annual competencies, compliance tracking, audits, scheduling, and regulatory requirements.

\n
• \n

  Plan and lead unit-based educational initiatives, skills fairs, point-of-care meetings, and hands-on equipment training.

\n
• \n

  Coordinate education for new and existing equipment, including rapid infusers, temporary pacing systems, advanced hemodynamic monitoring devices, and other specialized technologies.

\n
• \n

  Evaluate educational outcomes, identify learning needs, and implement programs that support quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

\n
• \n

  Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote clinical excellence, competency development, and continuous learning across the department.

\n

\n

\n

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

\n

\n
• \n

  Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing 

\n
• \n

  Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

\n
• \n

  Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

\n
• \n

  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

\n
• \n

  Two years of recent clinical nursing experience  

\n
• \n

  Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills 

\n

\n

\n

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

\n

\n
• \n

  Supervisory experience

\n
• \n

  ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

\n
• \n

  One of leadership experience preferably in ICU (Can include charge nurse experience)

\n

\n

\n

\n

Physical Requirements:

  Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

• \n

  Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

\n
• \n

  Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

\n
• \n

  Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.

\n
• \n

  Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• \n

  Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

\n
