Basic Job Functions: Lead a team of Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers to provide quotes, designs, and drawings for transmission, distribution, substation, or other utility structures; primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories. This position reports to the Director of the Engineering Department. Interview and hire new teammates to build the team. Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability to teammates. Ensure consistent application of current design policies, procedures, and practices. Manage the team’s priorities and set expectations. Guide teammates to deliver quality work, on time, with consistent results. Be active within Division leadership team to drive continuous improvement and overall success of the business. Support sales team through customer interactions, promoting our value proposition and cultivating deeper partnerships. Make decisions with other engineering department leaders to provide safe and competitive product designs. Travel is required to visit customers, support plants, exhibit at trade shows, and more. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
