Supervising DentistProvides supervision to student dental hygienists during client care in the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Assesses dental health status of dental clients.Essential Functions:Provides supervision to dental hygiene students during client care in the Dental Hygiene ClinicPerforms medical/dental assessment of dental hygiene clientsAuthorizes dental hygiene students to treat clientsProperly manages any dental or medical emergenciesInterprets radiographs and conducts radiographic and pharmacological consultation with studentsAuthorizes dental sealants, places temporary restorations, checks emergency equipment, and consults with clinical coordinator when appropriatePerforms other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:DMD (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) or DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery)Ohio license to practice dentistryMinimum of five years of professional demonstrated related experienceDemonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or teamDemonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsPossess strong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to travel to all clinical affiliatesAbility to promote student successAbility to effectively complete work assignments independentlyDemonstrated intermediate project management skillsDemonstrated flexibility and prioritizing abilityPossess working knowledge of dentistry concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situationsDemonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivityAbility to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projectsAbility to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and qualityAbility to research and analyze issues and develop solutionsAbility to work accurately with great attention to detailPossess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse populationCompetencies:Service FocusCommunicationQuality of WorkTime UtilizationAdaptabilityCollaborationContinuous ImprovementPreferred Qualifications:Current CPR CertificationPhysical Demands/Working Conditions:The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type.
