This position supports the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in maintaining high-quality playing conditions and a clean, professional course environment for our guests.

This role includes both equipment operation and hands-on golf course maintenance. While mowing and operating turf equipment are important parts of the job, this position also includes string trimming, push mowing, divot filling, bunker raking, debris removal, course setup, landscaping support, and other assigned maintenance tasks.

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in detailed work, and understands that maintaining a golf course requires a team effort across many different tasks each day.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to safely operate grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, utility carts, and related tools
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
  • Ability to perform physical work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in golf course, park, landscaping, grounds, or turf maintenance
  • Familiarity with reel mowers, rotary mowers, walk-behind mowers, trimmers, blowers, utility vehicles, and other turf care equipment
  • Basic understanding of golf course layout, course etiquette, and daily course maintenance practices
  • Interest in turf care, landscaping, golf course operations, or outdoor maintenance work

Responsibilities

  • Operate riding and walk-behind mowers to maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other course areas
  • Use trimmers, blowers, push mowers, utility vehicles, and hand tools to complete daily maintenance tasks
  • Rake and maintain bunkers, including sand movement, edging, cleanup, and detail work as assigned
  • Fill divots, repair ball marks, clean tee areas, move tee markers, and assist with general course setup
  • Support routine course cleanup, including debris removal, trash removal, branch pickup, and blowing high-traffic areas
  • Assist with landscaping, trimming, watering, and maintenance of course features and surrounding grounds
  • Help prepare the course for daily play, tournaments, outings, and special events
  • Follow daily work assignments and complete tasks in a timely, safe, and professional manner
  • Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, course damage, or hazards to supervisors promptly
  • Assist with equipment setup, fueling, cleaning, storage, and seasonal transitions
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance while representing the golf course maintenance team
  • Follow all resort safety protocols, equipment handling procedures, and supervisor instructions
  • Perform other golf course maintenance duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

The Golf Course Maintenance Technician must demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high course standards. This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow direction, work efficiently, and adapt to changing daily priorities.

Physical stamina, situational awareness, safe equipment operation, and willingness to perform both equipment-based and hands-on maintenance work are essential. An appreciation for golf course presentation, course etiquette, and guest experience is also important.

Work Environment

This position works primarily outdoors on the golf course and surrounding resort grounds. Work may take place in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and early morning conditions. Weekend and holiday availability is required based on business and course maintenance needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, lift, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Ability to operate riding equipment, walk-behind equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely
