Junior Finance Associate – FINRA Registered Broker-Dealer

Department: Finance

Reports To: Finance Manager 

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Mid-town NYC

Salary range: 75K to 95K depending on prior experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a Junior Finance Associate to support the Finance and Accounting functions of a FINRA-registered broker-dealer.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting or finance professional who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in gaining experience in the financial services industry.

The position will primarily focus on basic accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and administrative support for the Finance function. Broker-dealer experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily accounting and bookkeeping activities.
• Maintain and update the general ledger and accounting records.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense processing.
• Prepare and maintain bank and other account reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly and year-end financial closing processes.
• Prepare basic financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Assist with expense tracking and financial analysis.
• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with preparation of periodic financial and regulatory reports under the supervision of senior Finance personnel.
• Work with Operations and other departments to reconcile financial information and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with external audit requests and preparation of audit schedules.
• Support senior management with ad hoc financial and accounting projects.
• Perform other Finance and Accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience preferred.
• Previous broker-dealer or financial services experience preferred
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and spreadsheet functions.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with FINRA FOCUS reporting .
• Series 27 qualification preferred, but not required.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
