Licensed School Nurse, 0.7 FTE

Position Type: Student Support Services (Licensed)/School Nurse Location: Deephaven Elementary Licensing and Compensation License Required: 1. Minnesota PreK-12 school nurse license. 2. Master’s degree in nursing, public health, or education, preferred. 3. Membership and active participation in professional state and national nursing and educational organizations such as the School Nurse Organization of Minnesota, National Association of School Nurses, Minnesota Nurses Association, and Minnesota Public Health Association. Compensation: Salary schedule available in Appendix A, Schedule A. Position is medically insured but not eligible for dental benefits. Job Duties and Requirements Provide planning, intervention, evaluation, and reassessment for students with chronic and acute health conditions and/or disabilities in special or general education settings. Provide direct professional nursing services such as first aid, illness and emergency care, medication administration, G-tube feedings, catheterizations, and health teaching. Provide mental health support, including intervention and/or referral to appropriate school staff or community agencies. Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions using district technology. Delegate appropriate functions to health paraprofessionals as needed and supervise their direct and indirect care. Enhance the educational process through modification or removal of health‑related barriers to learning and by promoting student wellness. Follow state and county guidelines for reporting contagious conditions and informing families and staff. Perform screening procedures for hearing and vision. Advocate integration of district vision and policies into action plans. Perform qualified professional duties for the third‑party reimbursement program including developing care plans, training paraprofessionals, monitoring, and submitting required data. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. Specific Responsibilities Develop Individual Health Plans, Emergency Care Plans, and 504 Plans as needed. Collaborate with the special education team to ensure student success; attend special education meetings, supervise and train special education paraprofessionals, and document health assessments. Participate in twice‑monthly PLCs and follow other PLC requirements if hired at a 0.75 FTE or greater. Interpret health information and its impact on education planning for students. Participate in growth and evaluation requirements: student engagement plan and principal observations. Participate in community organizations and professional associations related to fostering student and family learning, health, and development. Attend and participate in local, regional, and state professional organizations and conferences related to student support services and school health programs to remain current in the field. Organize and maintain the emergency response team. Knowledge and Skills Evidence of experience as PHN or LSN at elementary and/or secondary level with strong nursing skills preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public. Evidence of skills and experience in working with medically dependent, medically fragile, and medically complex students and their families. Demonstrated knowledge in the special education process and practice preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
