Avionics Technician IIISpecialty: AvionicsLocation: Patuxent River, MD Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite Clearance: Top Secret w/ Yankee White Access | CAC requiredSummary: Provides support for O, I and D-level tasks in support of Presidential Helicopter platforms in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP), applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements. Senior-level avionics technician supporting VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N, test aircraft and other aircraft periodically hosted by PMA-274.Description: Advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions and incorporating engineering changes. Requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits. Exercises independent judgment in performing tasks such as circuit analyses, calculating wave forms and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians.Essential Functions:Perform complex aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and modificationDocument maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systemsLead and provide technical guidance to lower-level mechanicsEnsure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality programsPerform other duties as assignedDuties:Inspect/troubleshoot/maintain/modify avionics and electrical systemsInterpret technical manuals, drawings, and directivesTroubleshoot and repair aircraft avionics systemsDocument maintenance actions per NAMP requirementsQualifications:High School Diploma or GEDMinimum of six (6) years' experience in the design of instrumentation systems for the collection of test dataAerospace industry or military aircraft experience desiredShall have experience supporting IPTs and ITTsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills are essentialPossess excellent computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsSelf-motivated and have strong attention to details; be adept at planning and managing resources and meeting milestonesPrioritization skills are essentialMust be able to work independently and hands-on, yet also possess strong teamwork skillsPossess the ability to work well with engineers, technicians, Contractors, vendors, and end-user customersMust have a working knowledge of aircraft instrumentation systems such as those that are designed, but not limited to capture stress and strain, shock and vibration, temperature, position (i.e., aircraft surfaces, landing gear, etc.), noise and pressure measurements7+ years avionics aviation maintenance experience5+ years VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N or similar aircraft maintenance experience preferredMust be able to work day, swing or mid shift as requiredPhysical Requirements: Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing and walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and vision to use tools and inspect aircraft systems.
