Compensation Starting at $60,000-$70,000 annually, based on qualifications, knowledge, skills, experience, and demonstrated leadership ability. In addition to base salary, the Store Manager is eligible for performance-based bonus opportunities. Position Summary The Store Manager is responsible for the overall success of the Food Matters Market, Morganton, NC store by leading daily operations, developing a high performing team, delivering an exceptional customer experience, and driving sales and profitability. This hands-on leadership role ensures operational excellence, maintains compliance with food safety and employment standards, and fosters a positive workplace culture that reflects the values of Food Matters Market. What You’ll Do As Store Manager, you will: Lead the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring an exceptional customer experience. Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop a high-performing team. Create employee schedules that support customer service and business needs. Maintain merchandising standards, inventory accuracy, pricing, and product quality. Drive sales, profitability, labor management, and expense control. Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Monitor cash handling, inventory controls, and loss prevention practices. Build positive relationships with customers, vendors, and the local community. Address customer concerns professionally and implement continuous improvements. Partner with ownership and leadership to achieve company goals. What We’re Looking For Qualified candidates will have: Management experience in retail, grocery, food service, or hospitality (multi-department grocery experience preferred). Demonstrated leadership and team development skills. Strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution abilities. Experience with inventory management, merchandising, and operational controls. Working knowledge of retail technology, POS systems, inventory software, and scheduling systems. Knowledge of food safety practices; ServSafe certification is a plus. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Move throughout the store for extended periods. Lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently, with or without reasonable accommodation. Occasionally work in refrigerated or freezer environments. Bend, reach, stoop, and perform routine retail activities. Schedule This is a full-time exempt leadership position requiring a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours based on business needs.
