1st Shift CNC Machinist — Precision Onsite

Location Houston, TX, 77047 Work Arrangement Onsite Position Overview The CNC Machinist will set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes and/or mills as well as specialized machine tools. This role performs diversified machining operations on standard work with tolerance and finish specifications requiring a general knowledge of machining practices and techniques. Hours for this shift are: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. Responsibilities Work from drawings, sketches, and specifications to complete various machining operations. Edit CNC programs to manufacture parts per blueprint/drawings. Perform machine set‑ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts. Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and perform inspections on work‑in‑progress using a variety of measuring devices. Complete and maintain all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms for each job. Make jigs, fixtures or other specialized non‑production devices as qualified and assigned. Acquire raw material, supplies, tools, etc. when necessary. Maintain a clean, orderly work area, work safely, and conform to all quality procedures and standards. Perform first‑piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned. Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule. Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc., and make competent decisions pertaining to the job at hand. Maintain and monitor machine shop equipment; safeguard against improper use and incorrect set‑ups to prevent extensive damage. Detect errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 3+ years of shop experience as a machinist. Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading. Experience with GD&T. Preferred Qualifications Clear communication, both oral and written. Organization skills; keep area clean to 5S standards. Meets productivity standards by completing work in a timely manner. Experience with Fanuc Controls. Mental/Visual/Physical Effort Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required. Possesses good hand/eye coordination. Physical Hazards Normal operations require eye protection, steel‑toed footwear, and occasionally hand protection. Working Conditions Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise. Limited disagreeable factors present.
