Job Overview Shift: Day/Evening and every 3rd or 4th weekend. FTE: 0.9. Sign‑on Bonus: $10,000 . $5/hr Evening Differential. $7.50/hr Night/Weekend Differential. The RN is responsible for safe and reliable patient care, executing the nursing process with assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This requires specialized knowledge, critical thinking, and skills based on psychological, social, physical and biological sciences. Why UnityPoint Health? Responsibilities Assume primary responsibility for the plan of care for a patient or group of patients per unit standards. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to the healthcare team and follow up for collaboration. Perform admission assessment, including patient history, physical, and psycho‑social evaluation. Develop nursing diagnoses related to focus problem areas and identify goals of care. Plan and implement care that is mutually established with the patient and family, reviewing priorities each shift. Implement the plan of care according to standards of nursing practice, evidence‑based practice, and hospital protocols. Integrate a multidisciplinary approach to maintain comfort and safety. Partner with the healthcare team to achieve patient care outcomes. Administer medications and nursing treatments within scope of practice. Apply St. Luke’s Comfort/C.A.R.E. Professional Practice Model in daily care. Patient Education Assess and select appropriate teaching strategies for patients and families. Consult hospital resources for specialized education. Prioritize patient and workplace safety, prevent errors, and report concerns. Integrate education throughout hospitalization, covering procedures and discharge instructions. Incorporate preventive health maintenance into the education plan. Leadership & Professional Development Assist in orientation of new associates, acting as a mentor and preceptor when appropriate. Participate in the education of students and RN interns. Engage in professional development and share knowledge through networking and research. Utilize evidence‑based learning models. Participate in shared governance and performance improvement activities. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa or a compact state. Current BLS certification. Fluent in written and spoken English. Multicultural sensitivity. Proficiency in manual skills and techniques for medication therapy and specialized equipment operations.
