Position Summary Job Title: RN / 7P / Chandler 8 Main (Nurse Clinical/UKHC / CH 8 MAIN / 7A) Location: Lexington, KY The Registered Nurses in the Chandler 8 Main at UK Chandler Hospital provide care for Adult Medicine Services patients who are moderately stable, with fluctuating patient acuity, and complex needs. Patient care includes frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular and neurological conditions. Nurses deliver total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care that incorporates assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching and evaluation of a comprehensive nursing plan of care. They also train and delegate duties to Nursing Care Technicians, ensure patient satisfaction, and work collaboratively with the nursing staff and physicians to enhance patient outcomes. Shift & Work Hours Shift: Must be able to work three 12‑hour day shifts (7 AM‑7:30 PM), totaling 36 hours per week. Some weekend and holiday work may be required as the unit schedule dictates. Physical & Health Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently. Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards and potential injury from patients or sharp instruments. Required Education & Experience ADN credential required. No prior experience required. Preferred: BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience. License & Certifications Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, temporary work permit (TWP), provisional license or an active compact state RN license that is in good standing. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment start. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Knowledge of Maslow's Basic Human Needs and Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework, including Swanson's Caring model. Proficient direct patient care and critical thinking. Basic computer navigation and internet usage. Professional, respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers and physicians. Strong organizational, prioritization and delegation skills. Motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and family members. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
