Lead Respiratory Therapist RRT CRT The Lead Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Lead Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation. Responsibilities Apply and operate acute care ventilators used for continuous short and long‑term mechanical ventilation. Be self‑directed in the absence of the full‑time team leader. Maintain all department and hospital records and enter accurate information into the hospital computer system. Perform procedures with care and empathy for patients. Evaluate patients’ respiratory needs and develop and implement individualized Respiratory Care Plans. Qualifications Completion of a two‑year AMA‑approved respiratory care program (Associate’s Degree) or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program (CoARC). Minimum of 3 years’ respiratory therapy experience; critical‑care and intubation experience preferred. Current Florida Certified (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure. American Heart Association BLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required within 6 months of hire. Strong critical‑thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, and comfort working in a stressful environment. Customer‑service abilities including effective listening skills. Must be able to stand, bend, reach, squat, kneel, and move equipment frequently. Certification requirements: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support, Neonate Resuscitation, and PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support to be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
