Construction Quality & Regulatory Specialist - (Northern CA)

BW Industrial Construction is seeking a Construction Quality & Regulatory Specialist to support industrial construction activities within a regulated beverage‑manufacturing environment. This role provides advanced quality oversight, regulatory interpretation, and sanitary design evaluation to ensure construction activities meet FDA/FSMA, GMP, and client‑specific compliance requirements. The Specialist will also support future NSFQ/SQF/GFSI readiness as BW expands into regulated manufacturing markets. This is a mid‑senior level position requiring strong analytical capability, independent judgment, and the ability to advise project leadership on compliance risks and quality expectations. Key Responsibilities Quality and Regulatory Oversight Evaluate construction activities, materials, finishes, and installation methods for compliance with FDA/FSMA, GMP, and sanitary design requirements Conduct quality inspections, field audits, and non‑conformance assessments Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for regulatory and quality alignment Identify quality risks and recommend corrective actions to project leadership Documentation and Inspection Readiness Prepare and maintain quality logs, inspection records, NCRs, and corrective action documentation Lead development of inspection readiness packages for client, third‑party, or regulatory inspections Conduct pre‑inspection walkthroughs and gap assessments Ensure all quality and compliance documentation is organized, accurate, and audit‑ready Sanitary Design and Construction Support Evaluate sanitary design elements, including material compatibility, cleanability, and installation methods Provide technical guidance to project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors Validate corrective actions and verify sanitary design implementation in the field Future NSFQ/SQF/GFSI Support Contribute to the development of quality and compliance frameworks supporting future NSFQ/SQF/GFSI readiness Assist in building documentation templates, quality standards, and best‑practice procedures Required Qualifications 3–5 years of experience in food/beverage facility construction, sanitary design, and regulatory compliance, with strong familiarity working in industrial or large‑scale manufacturing environments General construction experience supporting field teams, project managers, or quality/compliance functions Must have QA/QC experience in a beverage manufacturing plant (such as a beer, bottled water, or cola plant) Experience with permitting processes, including coordination with local jurisdictions, AHJs, and regulatory agencies HACCP Certification OSHA 30 - Construction Working knowledge of FDA, FSMA, GMP, and food‑grade construction requirements Experience conducting quality inspections, compliance audits, and gap assessments in construction or manufacturing settings Ability to interpret regulatory expectations and advise on compliance risks Proficiency with Bluebeam, Procore, or similar construction documentation tools Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills Ability to perform site walks, access elevated work areas, and enter mechanical spaces Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications Education (Preferred, Not Required) Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Health, Public Health Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering Equivalent experience in regulated construction or FDA/FSMA environments will be considered. Certifications (Preferred, Not Required) FSMA Preventive Controls (PCQI), strongly preferred GMP/GFSI/SQF training, strongly preferred ISO 9001 Internal Auditor ASQ CQT or CQA BRC FSSC 22000 Compensation (California Pay Transparency) Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000 annually, depending on experience Benefits Medical, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays, and 401(k)/Matching Additional Job Information Work Model: Remote; and on‑site during active construction phases Schedule: Full‑time; typically 40 hours per week with flexibility during inspection periods or project milestones FLSA Classification: Exempt (Administrative Exemption – CA) Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to project sites, vendor locations, or client facilities Location Requirement: Must reside within commuting distance of the project site Safety Requirements: Must comply with all site safety protocols and attend required safety orientation Equal Employment Opportunity Statement BW Industrial Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
