Staff Engineer, Systems and Applications Design Date: Apr 21, 2026 General Overview Job Title: Staff Engineer, Systems/Applications Design Functional Area: Engineering (ENG) Career Stream: Design Engineering Systems/Applications (DSA) Role: Staff Engineer (SEN) Job Code: SEN-ENG-DSA Job Band: 10 Direct/Indirect Indicator: Indirect Detailed Description Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling. Provide technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas. Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.). Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract. Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop deployment strategies and plans. Leads the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinates site-wide deployment efforts. May manage relationships with key vendors/partners. Research systems ideas and draw up plans for these systems. Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. Architecture of solution: divide up tasks for various engineering teams to execute taking into consideration requirements engineering, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, testing and evaluation, maintainability and many other disciplines necessary for successful system design and field support. Test, simulate and measure (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems. Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations. Solve complex problems. Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams. Analyze and interpret data and information. Recommend system modifications. Create reports and documentation. Physical Demands Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required. Occasional travel may be required. Typical Experience 7 to 10 years of related experience; experience in similar job roles. Typical Education Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
