HAZMAT General Laborer/Field Service Technician

Field Services Technician I Fredericksburg, VA Hourly Range: $19.00 - $20.00 As a Field Services Technician I, you will perform hazardous waste clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and hazardous material handling tasks in the field. All new hires are required to attend a two‑week training academy upon hire. Responsibilities Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects Operate light and heavy equipment, use hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration‑producing tools Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and protection for skin, face, hand, and foot Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Work in atmospheres and locations with potential exposure to chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and low‑clearance areas Work at elevations, including from ladders and scaffolding Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into and out of trucks, tanks, and other containers Work extended (over 8 hours) time periods Attend all compliance and safety update meetings Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance Safely load and unload hazardous and non‑hazardous waste Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week Handle site‑remediation, equipment decontamination, and hazardous material handling duties as required by the position Qualifications Reliable transportation Valid driver’s license Ability to perform physical functions required by key responsibilities Comfortable with emergency response; willingness to work on weekends, holidays, and during emergencies that may extend beyond 8 hours, up to 12–24 hours Successful completion of a background check, drug test, and physical examination Meet OSHA respiratory protection facial hair standards (29 CFR 1910.34) for positions requiring respirators Preferred Qualifications Previous relevant labor experience Benefits & Opportunities Health and safety is the top priority Focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship Comprehensive health benefits coverage after 30 days of full‑time employment, including 401(k) with company match Employee Stock Purchase Plan Training and tuition reimbursement paid by the company Opportunities for growth and development at all career stages Equal Opportunity and Accommodations Hepaco, a Clean Harbors company, is an equal‑opportunity employer.
