Job Description

This role focuses on assembling electrical and mechanical components by following detailed assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists. You will prepare materials, use hand and power tools, and perform precise wiring tasks to build high-quality products in a fast-paced production environment. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to cross-train on multiple tasks within the department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, and by gathering all required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
• Position parts and subassemblies accurately by using templates and reading measurements to ensure correct placement and fit.
• Tighten and fasten prefabricated electrical or electronic parts and install components, units, subassemblies, raceways, wiring, and assembly casings using rivets, bolts, screws, clamps, and similar hardware.
• Prepare wire by identifying and separating wire by color, trimming, clipping, and tinning wires and leads, wiring according to predetermined specifications, connecting wire to pre-connected wiring devices, and packaging wire for kits.
• Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies to meet quality standards.
• Drill and tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for elements, wiring, or instruments.
• Measure, cut, and glue PVC pipe according to specifications for use in assemblies.
• Cross-train on various tasks and support different functions within the department as needed.
• Use a square bit power drill to construct tables used for storage and ensure they meet structural and quality requirements.
• Pack wires onto carts to be palletized, palletize different length wires into bags, and complete and initial quality control sheets to confirm orders are fulfilled correctly.
• Spool wires to specified lengths using a custom-built machine, apply labels, cut, and secure both ends of the wire with zip ties.
• Store spooled wires in designated carts and move them to different areas of the department while tracking the number of wires spooled each hour.
• Use electronic testing devices to check the electric current of wires and verify they meet required specifications.
• Apply specific color tape to wires according to instructions and labeling standards.
• Use a polypropylene strapping kit, including tensioner, crimper, metal strapping seals, and cart, to secure bags to pallets in preparation for shipment.
• Use sandpaper on thicker wire lengths of approximately 100–200 feet, clean residue with alcohol, and use a heat gun and custom measuring tool to glue rings onto wire.
• Follow all safety measures, including unplugging the heat gun after use and storing it properly in a custom-built holster under the worktable.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and contribute to a safe, efficient, and high-quality production environment.

Essential Skills

• Experience in assembly or production environments, with the ability to follow detailed assembly instructions and blueprint specifications.
• Proficiency using hand and power tools, including drills, tensioners, crimpers, and other mechanical tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and parts lists accurately.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, including fastening components with rivets, bolts, screws, clamps, and similar hardware.
• Demonstrated skill in wiring, including identifying and separating wires by color, trimming, clipping, tinning, and connecting wires according to specifications.
• Experience with wiring tasks such as splicing wires and crimping connections.
• Capability to drill and tap holes accurately in specified locations for mounting control units or creating openings for wiring and instruments.
• Comfort working in a manufacturing or production setting and meeting productivity and quality targets.
• Strong attention to detail, quality orientation, and ability to complete and verify documentation such as quality control sheets.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse or similar industrial environment.
• Familiarity with using custom-built machines for tasks such as wire spooling and heat application.
• Ability to measure, cut, and glue PVC pipe accurately.
• Experience using electronic devices to test electric current in wires.
• Knowledge of palletizing and securing products for shipment using polypropylene strapping kits, tensioners, crimpers, and metal seals.
• Comfort working with heat guns, sandpaper, alcohol cleaners, and other materials used in wire preparation and finishing.
• Ability to cross-train and adapt to different tasks within the department as operational needs change.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks such as spooling, labeling, packing, and moving materials efficiently.

Work Environment

This position is based in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment where you will work primarily on your feet handling tools, materials, and assemblies. Typical shifts run 8–10 hours per day, requiring consistent focus and stamina to meet production goals. You will regularly use hand and power tools, including drills, crimpers, tensioners, and electronic testing devices, as well as custom-built machines for wire spooling and heat application. Personal protective equipment is required and must be worn as directed to maintain a safe workplace. The setting is fast-paced, hands-on, and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
