RN Emergency Room

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care to patients with a wide range of acuities, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, behavioral health, and critically ill cases. The nurse performs patient assessments, administers medications, and collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality emergency care. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and at least two years of nursing experience. Certification in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC is mandatory. Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs in a high-acuity emergency setting.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document care accurately using EPIC.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Manage emergency situations including trauma, stroke, STEMI, and behavioral health crises.
• Provide patient education and support to patients and families during emergency care.
• Participate in unit float assignments and cover weekend shifts as required.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in emergency or acute care settings.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC.
• Proficient in EPIC electronic health record system.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center or similar high-acuity emergency department.
• Familiarity with care for behavioral health patients and acute care boarding in the ED.
• Additional certifications or training relevant to emergency nursing.

Special Considerations:

• Must be flexible to work holidays and weekends as required.
• Float assignments to other units may be required.
• Strict dress code regarding scrub colors (no reddish orange permitted).
• RTO (Request Time Off) must be presented with application; flexibility encouraged.
• Work environment includes Level 2 adult trauma center and Level 3 pediatric trauma center settings.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour evening shifts per week (3x12 schedule).
• Guaranteed 60 hours per two-week pay period.
• Weekend work is required as part of the schedule.
