Mobile Diesel Technician II – Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair a wide range of truck equipment using diagnostic tools and test instruments. Inspect, test, and analyze defective equipment to identify malfunctions. Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation after repairs. Identify problems, determine accurate information, and evaluate repair alternatives. Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post trip inspections. Work effectively with clients and customers to assess needs and resolve issues. Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time efficiently. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks. Document work in Repair Orders (RO), uploading photos and parts data via the TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation promptly. Manage daily schedule independently, maintaining high productivity levels and meeting standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals and discuss findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Conduct daily pre/post trip inspections of the service truck. Requirements High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in a related field (alternative: higher degree or 5 years of experience). At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. OEM training and certifications preferred. Participate in and complete all company‑required training. Must pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or provide a valid DOT medical card with 25 or more months remaining). Must be at least 21 years old. Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File. Base rate may vary based on location and qualifications. Eligible for additional compensation such as commission or incentive programs.
