Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) - Colorectal Surgery Unit

Job Summary:

Our esteemed client is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Colorectal Surgery Unit. This specialized unit within the hospital provides critical care and treatment to patients undergoing colorectal surgical procedures. As a Medical Surgical RN in this unit, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care and support to patients throughout their colorectal surgery journey. This is a unique opportunity for experienced nurses who are committed to providing top-quality patient care in a specialized surgical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care:
   • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Colorectal Surgery Unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
   • Monitor patients' conditions, administer medications, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
2. Surgical Support:
   • Collaborate closely with the surgical team to assist with colorectal surgeries, encompassing pre-operative and post-operative care.
   • Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring they understand the procedure and post-operative expectations.
3. Specialized Care:
   • Deliver specialized care to patients with colorectal surgical conditions, including ostomy care, wound care, and the management of surgical drains and devices.
   • Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-operative care.
4. Patient Advocacy:
   • Advocate for the rights and preferences of patients, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being is a top priority.
5. Infection Control:
   • Adhere to strict infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe patient environment.
6. Documentation:
   • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes. Adhere to all regulatory and facility-specific documentation requirements.

Qualifications:

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of medical surgical nursing experience.
• Experience in surgical care, preferably in a colorectal surgery unit.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EHR).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with diverse patient populations and surgical procedures.
• Previous experience in a colorectal surgery unit.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with a variable schedule, including day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the unit.
