FOSSIL RIM WILDLIFE CENTER invites applicants for the position. This position will be responsible for receiving, organizing, and assisting with inventory control and merchandising for the Nature Store. This position is also responsible for a high-impact, fast-paced, first impression-directed, top-notch customer service. This will be the result of assisting guests in a way that will ensure a pleasant and comfortable time at Fossil Rim, helping guests with purchases made at retail tourism locations, processing customer transactions in a friendly and urgent manner, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.

The essential responsibilities of the Retail Sales Associate include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

• Receive truck loads and packages as needed
• Assist with checking over deliveries to make sure that everything that has been ordered has arrived.
• Keep stock room organized
• Help and assist in maintenance of a balanced inventory
• Notify the Manager or Assistant Manager when inventory items are low
• Maintain/Stock the proper display of goods in the NS.
• Knowledge of merchandise and their location in the NS
• Willingness and flexibility to work at all the retail establishments: Nature Store, Admissions and the Caf.
• To always maintain world-class customer service with helpfulness, product knowledge and speed
• Engage with all customers that enter the establishments, greet and assist as needed
• Minimize overages and shortages through proper cash and safe handling and cash control procedures, as laid down by your Director and the Finance Department
• Accuracy in processing transactions. Use of suggestive sales techniques in selling other products of Fossil Rim.
• Maintain a daily high standard of cleanliness on the sales floor, counter tops, work surfaces and bathrooms.
• Minimize stock loss through proper shrink prevention theft and mishandling of merchandise
• Constantly update self-knowledge with regard to codes, products and pricing
• Regular attendance as scheduled required
• Comply with Health Department standards at all times
• Be able to stand for long periods of time
• Be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Understand the cross-training is part of the job
• Ensure adherence to Employee Manual, Risk Management Plan, corporate procedures and policies, Departmental mission and goals, and Fossil Rim mission, vision, values and current strategic plan
• Be flexible and willing to assist at the Caf and Admissions as necessary (Nature Store)
• Have good interpersonal skills for interacting with guests
• Process daily transactions, bank deposits and end of day reports as laid down by the Finance Department in the absence of the Lead Associate or NS Manager.

The secondary responsibilities of the Retail Sales Associate include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

• Maintain updated knowledge on special events, new animal information, special attractions, and basic operations of Fossil Rim.
• Help new team members to develop a similar level of expertise.
• Work additional shifts during peak periods and holidays
• Perform all normal daily routines as instructed, including re-stocking of vending facilities (Lodgings only)

Experience and Qualities Required:

• Warehouse experience preferred
• Well spoken, always helpful on the telephone and respectful of guests and potential guests
• Attention to detail
• Good customer service and sales skills both in person and by telephone
• Able to communicate and interact well with other staff, respectful of supervisors, and showing trust and respect for others in the guest services area.
• Neat, clean and tidy personal appearance and attire. Uniform standard as assigned by management (clean and proper appearance a must)
• Computer literate.
• Able and willing to learn specialized applications
• Punctual and dependable according to duty schedule, but flexible when required, duties are varied.
• Able to work with little supervision, able to be resourceful, having calm and organized demeanor.
• Accuracy in record-keeping
• Clean record in cash handling.
• Honesty and reliability are essential

Work Requirements: A full-time non-exempt position, requiring the use of the timeclock. Usually a 40-hour workweek or more, often requiring flexibility and ability to work extra hours, overnights, weekends and public holidays.
