LPN Endoscopy Tech - Endo Lab - Kings Hwy

This job provides direct care (including IV therapy) to assigned patients within the framework of the Licensed Practical Nurse Practice Act under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse; directs and assists ancillary nursing staff with assigned duties; interacts with the multidisciplinary team and other personnel; exhibits professional responsibility; assumes responsibility for own practice; assists in procedures competently and professionally; skills to understand the basic principles of anatomy and physiology associated with GI procedures; and assures appropriate handling and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Education Required - Graduate of approved LPN training school Work Experience Required - 2 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures with working knowledge of radiation safety and image storage guidelines Preferred - Endoscopy technician experience Certifications Required - Current LPN License in the state of practice Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Excellent organizational skills Good time management skills and self directed Demonstrates Good Judgement Good interpersonal skills Delegation skills Job Duties Exhibits effective use of the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care and while assisting physicians during procedures. Ensures cleanliness and/disinfection of endoscopes and other pertinent equipment while maintaining quality control measures. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
