Sr. Accountant

Industry: Luxury Landscape Design & Construction Reports To: Controller / Director of Finance Preferred Certification: CPA Position Summary A premier luxury landscape design and construction firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic, project-based environment and possesses strong cross-functional finance expertise. The Senior Accountant will oversee the company's day-to-day accounting operations while partnering closely with operations, project management, purchasing, and executive leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a CPA (or CPA candidate) with exceptional technical accounting skills, a strong analytical mindset, and experience working within construction, landscape, design, architecture, manufacturing, or project-based industries. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Perform account reconciliations including bank accounts, credit cards, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and intercompany transactions. Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and cash flow management. Monitor project profitability by partnering with operations and project managers to analyze job costs, labor utilization, material expenses, and gross margins. Support Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition for project-based work. Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiencies. Assist leadership with strategic financial reporting and KPI development. Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external auditors and tax professionals. Prepare schedules supporting tax filings and regulatory reporting. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. Assist in developing and improving accounting procedures and internal controls. Participate in ERP and accounting system enhancements while helping automate financial processes. Mentor junior accounting staff and provide technical accounting guidance. Support special projects and strategic initiatives across the finance organization. Cross-Functional Responsibilities This position works closely with multiple departments including: Project Management Purchasing & Procurement Operations Human Resources Business Development Responsibilities include: Reviewing project financial performance Assisting department managers with budgeting Developing operational reporting Improving financial processes Supporting inventory and purchasing controls Providing financial recommendations that improve business performance Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA strongly preferred 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in construction, landscaping, architecture, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based industries highly preferred Strong understanding of GAAP Experience with project accounting and job costing Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, and financial modeling Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Viewpoint, Foundation, Vista, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar Strong financial analysis and reporting skills Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience CPA license Public accounting background Project accounting or construction accounting experience WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting Revenue recognition (ASC 606) Fixed asset accounting Budgeting and forecasting Cash flow forecasting Internal controls and process improvement ERP implementations or system upgrades Business intelligence/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) Technical Skills Advanced Excel ERP Systems (NetSuite preferred) Microsoft Office Suite Financial reporting software Data analysis and dashboard reporting Budgeting and forecasting applications Personal Attributes Highly analytical with strong attention to detail Collaborative team player Strong business acumen Professional communication skills Ability to build relationships across departments Ability to thrive in a luxury client-focused environment #J-18808-Ljbffr SearchBuddy
