What You’ll Do (Essential Duties) As an HVAC Startup Technician , you will: Perform pre-functional inspections, checklists, and startup of commercial HVAC systems. Install unit accessories and ensure proper system operation according to manufacturer requirements. Diagnose and troubleshoot startup-related issues to ensure seamless system performance. Interpret drawings, submittals, and installation/operation manuals for accurate startup execution. Document all work with detailed reports for each system and unit. Assist installation teams by mounting and connecting field-installed devices as needed. Collaborate with commissioning agents and project teams to complete required documentation. What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications) Experience: 5+ years in HVAC startup, service, or commissioning roles. Technical Skills: Proficiency with DX systems, water‑cooled chillers, heat pumps, VAV boxes, and other commercial HVAC equipment. Strong understanding of HVAC system construction, troubleshooting, and performance testing. Hands‑on controls experience (wiring concepts, programming, or software) preferred but not required. Familiarity with common installation codes and best practices. Technology & Software: Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and digital documentation tools. Experience with CX Alloy or similar commissioning software is a plus. Licenses & Requirements: Valid driver’s license (must pass background and drug screening). Ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage time in a fast‑paced environment. Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
