Are you passionate about food and eager to build your culinary skills? We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented student to join our back-of-house team as a Line Cook / Junior Chef. In our kitchen, we value laulima (cooperation) , respect, and a continuous desire to learn. You will work alongside our experienced culinary team in a supportive environment that prioritizes your growth and gladly accommodates your class schedule.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

• Station Mastery: Setup, stock, and operate assigned kitchen stations (e.g., grill, sauté, fry, or pantry/prep) ensuring everything is ready before the rush hits.
• Cook with Precision: Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards, maintaining high consistency under pressure.
• Prep & Knife Work: Execute basic culinary prep work, including chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, and preparing sauces or garnishes.
• Safety & Sanitation: Keep your station immaculately clean, organized, and compliant with food safety regulations. Safely operate and clean commercial kitchen equipment.
• Team Synergy: Communicate clearly with fellow cooks and expeditors to ensure food is timed perfectly and ticket orders go out smoothly.

What We’re Looking For (Requirements)

• Basic Culinary Knowledge: Familiarity with kitchen tools and basic knife skills is preferred, but a strong work ethic and coachable attitude are most important.
• Stamina & Speed: Ability to stand for the duration of a shift, move quickly in a hot environment, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Organization: A sharp focus on cleanliness, detail, and time management.
• Availability: Flexibility to work key shifts, including weekends or evenings, depending on your class schedule.
• Certifications: Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Hawaii Food Handler Certification (we can help guide you through this quick online process).
